Delegates are invited to attend the annual College
Ceremony for the formal presentation of New Fellows for
ANZCA, JFICM and FPM and presentation of awards and
medals.The evening will also consist of presentations from
the ANZCA President, Dr Walter Thompson; FPM Dean, Dr
Roger Goucke and JFICM Dean, Dr Richard Lee. The
oration will be delivered by Dr Gary Hartstein.
Gary Hartstein is Associate Professor of Anaesthesia and
Emergency Medicine at University Hospital in Leige, Belgium
and F1A Medical Delegate for the Formula 1 World
Championship. As the chief medical officer for the world’s
leading motor sport championships, Gary is a shining example
of how a passion for one’s work can combine with the
profession of anaesthesia to lead to an exciting and rewarding
career – the perfect amalgam of science, art and life.
The Ceremony will be followed by a cocktail reception at
Dockside, Cockle Bay. With beautiful views over Darling
Harbour, the cocktail reception is guaranteed to be a
glamorous start to the 2008 ASM. The reception will
commence with drinks and canapés followed by a
spectacular fireworks display at 9pm. The evening will
continue well in to the night, with a DJ providing
the entertainment from 10pm. Children are welcome to
attend until the close of fireworks.
Stage-party dress: Black tie and College gown or academic dress.

The organising committee of the 2008 ANZCA ASM would like to invite all anaesthetic, pain medicine and intensive care medicine registrars and residents registered for the scientific meeting to attend a complimentary lunch.
